Surprise#03

Spotlight on:

One Less Lonely Girl (Justin Bieber)

I am supposed to be attending to granted “writing” favors right now, but after having no connection to the internet for more than eight hours, I am giving in to the guilty pleasure of working on PROJECT itunes.

This entry came to me as a surprise as well. I am NO fan of Justin Bieber, but neither do I hate him. See? I even have this song in my music player.

Alright, let’s go

There’s gonna be one less lonely girl
(One less lonely girl)
One less lonely girl
(One less lonely girl)

There’s gonna be one less lonely girl
(One less lonely girl)
One less lonely girl

How many I told yous and start overs and shoulders
Have you cried on before?
How many promises, be honest girl
How many tears you let hit the floor?

How many bags you packed, just to take him back
Tell me that how many either ors
But no more if you let me inside of your inside your world
There’ll be one less lonely girl

Saw so many pretty faces before I saw you, you
Now all I see is you
I’m coming for you
(I’m coming for you)

Don’t need these other pretty faces like I need you
And when you’re mine in the world
There’s gonna be one less lonely girl

I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
There’s gonna be one less lonely girl

I’m coming for you, I’m gonna put you first
I’m coming for you, I’ll show you what you’re worth
That’s what I’m gonna do, if you let me inside of your world
There’s gonna be one less lonely girl

Christmas wasn’t merry, 14th of February
Not one of ’em spent with you
How many dinner dates, set dinner plates
And he didn’t even touch his food?

How many torn photographs I saw you taping back
Tell me that you couldn’t see an open door
But no more, if you let me inside your world
There’ll be one less lonely girl

Saw so many pretty faces before I saw you, you
Now all I see is you
I’m coming for you, I’m coming for you

Don’t need these other pretty faces like I need you

And when you’re mine in this world
There’s gonna be one less lonely girl

I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
There’s gonna be one less lonely girl

I’m coming for you, I’m gonna put you first
I’m coming for you, I’ll show you what you’re worth
That’s what I’m gonna do, if you let me inside your world
There’s gonna be one less lonely girl

I can fix up your broken heart
I can give you a brand new start
I can make you believe, yeah
I just wanna set one girl free to fall, free to fall
She’s free to fall, fall in love with me

Her heart’s locked, and know what, I got the key
I’ll take her and leave the world with one less lonely

There’s gonna be one less lonely girl
One less lonely girl
One less lonely girl
One less lonely girl

There’s gonna be one less lonely girl
One less lonely girl
One less lonely girl

I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
There’s gonna be one less lonely girl

I’m coming for you, I’m gonna put you first
I’m coming for you, I’ll show you what you’re worth
That’s what I’m gonna do, if you let me inside your world
There’s gonna be one less lonely girl

I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
I’m coming for you, one less lonely girl
There’s gonna be one less lonely girl

I’m coming for you, I’m gonna put you first
I’m coming for you, I’ll show you what you’re worth
That’s what I’m gonna do, if you let me inside your world
There’s gonna be one less lonely girl

Only you shawty

Every Bieber song is a hit. Call it charm or charisma, Justin has a very effective way of communicating emotions through his singing voice. Maybe if I was that starting-to-become-a-teenage-girl who lived in today’s times, I would also probably be head over heels in love with Justin.

I remember the days when I was the biggest fan (and still am) of the Hanson brothers. Since my dad worked in the US, it was easy for him to buy me teen magazines with Hanson on the covers or centerfolds. Just saying, I know how young girls these days feel about their idols. Justin Bieber is one celebrity who is being looked up to by today’s younger generation.

I completely understand why the babes (and the guys, too) can’t help but go gaga over JB.  Been there, done that. 😀

But I wonder how the Beliebers (Are you a fan? If yes, then congratulations! You are a BELIEBER!) are doing these past days?

Last May 10, 2011, Justin Bieber took the Philippines by storm. To say that it was a sold-out concert is an understatement. However, Justin was lip-synching some of his songs. Insiders say that this is because he was not feeling well.

If you have been watching the local news for the past two days, reports would tell you to think twice of Justin Bieber. A footage of him being a snob by not greeting his fans was shown; a clip showing him blankly asking the cameraman to back away; the worst footage highlighted Justin’s rude behavior, when a fan attempted to have JB’s signature signed on the CD case, and what Bieber did was to shove away the hand of the fan, making the CD fall on the ground.

I mean no offense to the fans out there, but what Justin did was completely foul.

Is fame too much for this young singer?

Is fame eating him alive?

Is fame getting the best of him?

Is fame bringing out the worst in him?

Fame has brought him to the spotlight….

and Fame can take him away.

If Justin is indeed beginning to succumb to the gray areas of Fame and Fortune, he might just lose the world he created where his fans regard him as their role model.

One less lonely girl, he sings?

Not one girl would probably adore a Justin Bieber if this kid doesn’t get his act together.

Date A Girl Who Reads: Unrated Version

Here’s the complete version of “Date A Girl Who Reads”. I wonder who wrote this? Genius, I must say.

Oh and by the way, the last line just makes this article out of this world. 😉

Date A Girl Who Reads

Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve.

Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag. She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she finds the book she wants. You see the weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a second hand book shop? That’s the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow.

She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. If you take a peek at her mug, the non-dairy creamer is floating on top because she’s kind of engrossed already. Lost in a world of the author’s making. Sit down. She might give you a glare, as most girls who read do not like to be interrupted. Ask her if she likes the book.

Buy her another cup of coffee.

Let her know what you really think of Murakami. See if she got through the first chapter of Fellowship. Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce’s Ulysses she’s just saying that to sound intelligent. Ask her if she loves Alice or she would like to be Alice.

It’s easy to date a girl who reads. Give her books for her birthday, for Christmas and for anniversaries. Give her the gift of words, in poetry, in song. Give her Neruda, Pound, Sexton, Cummings. Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by god, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.

She has to give it a shot somehow.

Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.

Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who understand that all things will come to end. That you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.

Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop. Except in the Twilight series.

If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.

You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she’s sick. Over Skype.

You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.

Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.

Or better yet, date a girl who writes.

i know i become one. 🙂
