halfblotprincess is the pen name used by Maica Quinto in writing her blog entries. She has been itching to create decent blogs for so long a time, but tardiness (brought by work) served as the roadblock. Now, she is taking the risk of coming up with good reads not only for strangers, friends and family, but for herself.
Maica Quinto considers herself as a struggling writer. She gets to scribble her random thoughts at night; when she starts doing so, she makes it a point to finish the write-up regardless the day job she has to attend to at 6:00 am. Maica works best during the wee hours of the morning, as she has mastered the art of submitting articles in deadlines set on US-time to a Filipino-American community newspaper (FilAm Star). She writes weekly for her lifestyle/showbiz section, Guess What. (www.filamstar.net)
Maica is Filipino, born and raised in Quezon City. Her entire family moved to Batangas just when she was about to attend high school in an exclusive school for girls. Leaving her old life in the city, a total paradigm shift welcomed Maica and her siblings (a sister and a younger brother) in Taal, Batangas. Her high school days allowed her to dream of becoming a journalist. So she went to St. Scholastica’s College-Manila to get a college degree. What is surprising is that she left the school with a different course diploma. Instead of becoming a media person, she exited St. Scho with a degree on Special Education.
Challenged by making some sense out of her career, she went back to Batangas to work in her alma mater. She now works with children with special needs.
Maica is a travel junkie, sans the photography. Well, she has got a long way when it comes to taking decent pictures using a DSLR. She loves to go on tour every summer with her regular travel buddies. She has been to Beijing, China and was able to climb the heights of the Great Wall. Her knees were all wobbly after the great walk in the Great Wall. Since trips abroad are somehow expensive, Maica has set her goal of visiting first all the tourist spots in the Philippines. Palawan, Cebu and Bohol are among her favorites. Included in her bucket list also is to visit Seoul, Korea where she hopes to meet Gong Yoo and Super Junior. She promises herself that she would give travel writing a try, the next time she goes on a trip.
Aside from reading books of all sorts, Maica is a sucker for K-Pop music. Among her favorites are Super Junior, SHINee, 2NE1, Beast, Rain and Tae Yang. She exerts a great effort of memorizing the lyrics even if she does not speak nor write Hangul.
Lately, Maica has been learning how to play with a longboard. She owns a Sector9-BHNC which she affectionately loves. However, she really (and she means REALLY) needs to work on her footbreak.
She dreams of doing her own cover of any Glee-covered song, and also do a duet of “I See the Light” with Zachary Levi. For the meantime, she settles for shower-singing.
